Illustrative render of the proposed strength and conditioning gym with racks, platforms and sports flooring

Ground floor

Strength & Conditioning

A performance hall of approximately 40 stations with an integrated indoor sprint lane — a sports science environment for academy and elite athletes, not a second commercial gym.

The performance hall

Built for squad sessions

Correct platform spacing, high ceilings and robust flooring are the difference between a squad training properly and a squad taking turns.

The strength and conditioning gym is specified as a performance environment. Clearly marked zones, correct lifting-platform spacing and an integrated sprint lane allow a full squad session to run without compromise or queueing.

It sits in direct working relationship with physiotherapy, the recovery suite, the changing rooms and the performance analysis suite on the first floor, so that coaching, testing, treatment and review are part of one workflow.

Training and play across the gyms and pitches is for women and girls; coaches, practitioners and support staff work alongside them.

What is proposed

  • Approximately 40 major equipment stations
  • Lifting platforms, racks and free-weight provision
  • Integrated indoor sprint and acceleration lane
  • Sized for full squad sessions rather than rotation
  • Adjacent physiotherapy, rehabilitation and recovery

Sports science

Testing, data and the analysis suite

A performance centre is only as good as the information it generates. Testing and analysis are proposed as standing programmes, not occasional exercises.

  • Physical profiling

Strength, power, speed and change-of-direction testing, repeated across a season so that progress is measured rather than assumed.

  • Screening and load management

Movement screening and workload monitoring shared with the medical team, supporting injury prevention rather than reacting to injury.

  • Return to play

Reconditioning work run jointly between the S&C floor and the rehabilitation gym, in the same building as the training that caused the injury.

Working with clubs, colleges and governing bodies

Squad access, testing programmes and coach education are all part of the proposed operating model. If you run a programme that needs this environment, we would like to hear from you.
